Musculoskeletal (MSK) appointment

What to expect...
At an MSK (musculoskeletal) physiotherapy appointment, you can expect a thorough evaluation of your condition to identify the root cause of your symptoms.
The session typically begins with a detailed discussion about your medical history, lifestyle, and any specific concerns or goals you may have. This is followed by a physical assessment, where the physiotherapist may evaluate your posture, joint mobility, muscle strength, and movement patterns to gain a comprehensive understanding of the issue.
Based on the findings, the physiotherapist will explain your diagnosis and work with you to create a personalised treatment plan. This plan may include hands-on techniques (such as joint mobilisations or soft tissue therapy), targeted exercises, and advice on managing your condition. The goal is to reduce pain, improve function, and equip you with the tools needed for long-term recovery and prevention of further issues.
pelvic health appointment

What to expect...
At a pelvic health physiotherapy assessment, you can expect a compassionate and tailored approach to understanding your concerns.
The session typically begins with a detailed conversation about your medical history, lifestyle, symptoms, and goals to identify how your condition affects your daily life. The physiotherapist may conduct a physical examination, which could include assessing your posture, breathing patterns, pelvic alignment, core muscle function, and, if appropriate and with your consent, an internal pelvic floor examination to gain deeper insight into muscle tone, strength, and coordination.
You will be provided with clear explanations throughout the process and given the opportunity to ask questions at any time. Based on the findings, a personalised treatment plan will be developed, which may include exercises, hands-on techniques, and guidance to support your recovery. The focus is on empowering you to regain comfort, function, and confidence in managing your pelvic health.

Postnatal Check

What to expect...
At a postnatal physiotherapy assessment, you can expect a comprehensive and personalised evaluation to support your recovery after childbirth.
The session typically begins with a discussion about your medical history, pregnancy, delivery, and any current concerns, such as back pain, pelvic discomfort, or abdominal changes. A thorough physical assessment follows, which may include checking for diastasis recti (abdominal muscle separation), evaluating pelvic floor strength and function, assessing posture, and addressing any scar tissue from cesarean or perineal tears.
If an internal pelvic floor examination is recommended, this will be fully explained to ensure you can make an informed decision, with consent being entirely up to you. You can also opt for an external assessment if you prefer. Based on your needs, your physiotherapist will create a tailored plan that might include targeted exercises, hands-on techniques, and lifestyle advice to promote healing and prevent future complications.
The goal is to help you regain strength, function, and confidence in your postnatal recovery journey.
